Biography
Pamela Greene is a visual artist whose family originates from Sligo on the west coast of Ireland. Born in Belfast, she now lives and works near the Ards Peninsula, northern Ireland. Following a career in law, she decided to pursue her love for painting. In 2020, she graduated from Ulster University with an Honours degree (First Class) in Fine Art. In 2022, she graduated Master of Fine Art with Distinction also from Ulster University and was awarded the Siobhan McQuade Memorial Prize for Painting for her degree show. She has exhibited in numerous group shows in Ireland. In 2025, she had her first solo exhibition at the Fenderesky Gallery, Belfast, and had one of the exhibited pieces long listed for the Jackson’s Art Prize 2025. She is a member of Visual Artists Ireland and AND Culture and is represented by Fenderesky Gallery, Belfast, and Battletown Gallery, Newtownards. Her work is held in private collections.
Greene’s work explores the wonder and mystery of nature and the visible and invisible relationships that connect all living things. Guided by instinct rather than a predetermined outcome, she allows each painting to unfold organically, following the movement of colour, texture and form as they suggest new possibilities. Inhabiting the liminal space between observation and imagination, forms reminiscent of figures, animals, trees, and other organic structures, emerge and transform on the canvas. These shapes exist between abstraction and recognition, inviting viewers to find their own meanings and associations within the work.
